SPF, which means Sender Policy Framework, is an email protection system, that is used to confirm whether an email message is sent by an official server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain name will stop the forging of email addresses created with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this attribute for a domain generates a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which contains the IP of the servers that are permitted to send email messages from mailboxes using the domain. Once this record propagates globally, it exists on all of the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Whenever some email message is sent, the initial DNS server it uses tests if it originates from an accredited server. In the event it does, it's forwarded to the destination address, however when it does not come from a server indexed in the SPF record for the particular domain, it is discarded. In this way nobody can mask an email address then make it appear as if you're sending spam messages. This approach is also known as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Cloud Hosting

The SPF protection feature is provided as standard with every single cloud hosting package that we offer and you are able to use it without difficulty so as to protect the emails for any domain name hosted within your account. The service is controlled from the Emails section of our advanced, yet intuitive Hepsia Control Panel. All you need to activate the protection is to type in the IP address of the e-mail server as well as its hostname - mail.server.com, for instance. The moment the protection is active, only this server will be able to send messages from e-mails generated under the domain name that you have selected. Your email addresses can be handled by a different supplier, but if we manage them in addition to your site, you can enable an option for your messages to be sent only when the domain uses our MX records. This selection gives you better security as solely our server will be permitted to send out email messages from your mailboxes and you will have better control. If you have any questions or if you experience any sort of troubles with this service, you will be able to contact our technical support team at any time and they'll give you a hand immediately.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection attribute is featured with all semi-dedicated hosting, so if you host your domain names in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you are able to use the service with ease for any of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with the semi-dedicated accounts, offers a very intuitive interface, so you will not need to be tech-savvy in order to protected your e-mails. You will only have to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you would like to be permitted to send emails from your addresses and immediately after that the updated record will be activated for the domain name that you have picked. As a further option, we will also give you the ability to limit the outgoing emails and secure your mailboxes further by permitting e-mail messages to be sent only if the domain name in question features our MX records i.e. the email messages for the domain need to be managed on our end and not by another supplier. By doing so you'll enjoy even better control and there won't be any chance for anyone to fake your emails for harmful purposes.
